Dec 1 - 31, 2009

Dec 2, 2009
hi! this is week 3/18, this week i do not have a chemo treatment, whew, but on tues. (8th) back at it for the long day of chemo at 8:15 am. then wed. (9th) and internal ultra sound 8:15 again, boy they're getting me up early these days.lol
I've been feeling good this week, so i bake at least one thing per day, that'll keep us up in case next week goes blah. but now that i know i don't have to take the pills if i don't need them, may help so the head isn't so fuzzy, its a live and learn process and each person is different and each week may be different. With last week's treatment i only took i think 2 pills, that was more just in case, but i didn't need them, the treatment wasn't as harsh either, thankful not to have nausia.
I'll send an attachment of our family's pic, i can't send everyone a pic like i'd like to, so this way you see an updated pic of our family and you can print it off if you'd like. hope to make it small enough for my dial up friends, looks like it did.(click on it to enlarge)
thanks for your continued prayers, and support, just a little note this week, will catch up more next week, diane for will, brenten, jodiene & janae

hi! hope this week is finding you warm indoors, as weather here is just a tad nippy, more like br... -32 our said this morn, plus a wind chill to top things off, well we did have a very nice Nov. so hey winter weather is here, beats icy roads i say, even if its cold
this is a song we used to sing the first couple lines go "i need the prayers of those i love while travelling o're life's rugged way". this week has led to being an emotional week for us, i got the results from the ct scan that i had just before i started chemo with some good and then not so good results.(sometimes i wonder if reading and getting results are a good thing, but curiosity seems to take over, especially when one expects excellent results due to how one feels, ) The mass on my left upper lung has not changed in size, which at least if fairly good news, but there has added another 2 more enhancements, about half the size of the large mass, one in my mid and one in the lower left lung, as well as a tiny one found in the right lung along with a few lymph nodes not found before, and still the one wrapping around my pulmonary artery, and blood clots seem to still be present esp. the one in the left artery, but at least it did not mention as many clots as in first ct. And good thing there's always good news as well, at least the upper lung size has not grown, the lymph nodes in my neck had dissapeared, so radiation took care of that. and hey!! i still feel good, one just can't beat that, as long as i continue to feel pretty good, and no pain, it out weighs all the negative that results that were found, and hoping and praying chemo will help take care of all those. I also asked my chemo doc how long it would take before i'd notice results with chemo and he told me it could take a few treatments, i'm hoping to notice an improvement soon. I have not had any nausea, which is absolutely super, can't beat that either. although i do have to take all the pills this week, as they not only help for nausea they work with the chemo to help it do its job, so last night was an incredibly rough night, its a steroid i take good thing only one, which keeps the arms and legs movin' as well as keeping one awake, i only finally dozed off around 4 am. and dozed off & on till 6:30 when i needed to get up and get ready for my ultra sound apt. today. It went actually very well, i had heard of so many negative things about it, i was quite hesitant, but i had no pain or real discomfort in having that internal ultra sound. I asked the "ultrasoundist" i'd forgot her name, and i'm sure she has a more professional name than that but its the best i could come up with lol. anyway if she could tell me if she found anything and she said No, but then as she was doing the ultrasound, she told me i had two fibroids, other than that everything looked good from what she could tell, but i will get the full results on the 22nd. I also had my chemo treatment yesterday, and spent from 8:15 am. till just after 4 pm. in cancer care, my sis took me in and spent a couple hrs. with me, then Betty who had lymph cancer about 15 years ago stopped in,( cancer free now) and then Allison my palative care nurse popped in and then my other sis spent about 3 hrs. with me, so that really helped so the day wasn't so long, then i chatted with Debbie the cancer nurse as i was the only one left at the end of the day. She told me that about 50 patients come and go from mon - friday, wow, that's incredible, not all have a treatment this week, some come and get their ports cleaned which needs to be done once a month, or their picc line cleaned which needs to be done once a week. And for me, well i was the only one who had my chemo via IV, needle in my left hand yesterday, kinda a bit tender today, think we need to hold it a bit longer before putting bandage on, and yipes, that tape they use, its meant to stay on for a week, well, sometimes i wonder if i'm gonna have my skin left on my hand after she's trying to peel it off, that's one incredibly sticky tape. Should pick some up for some projects or would probably work great on a christmas gift or two lol!!
As we were taking the news with a mix of emotions, and as i was looking for my ultra sound paper to know what to do and how much to drink and not to drink, i came across a verse and a song. Great is thy faithfulness. Morning by morning new mercies I see; All i have needed Thy hand hath provided- Great is thy faithfullness, Lord unto me! That brought such peace, he is faithful to us no matter what we're going through. The verse that goes with it "His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
Well anyway, so far this has been our week, thanks for your continuous prayers for us, we truely need a miracle for healing of the cancer. We remain optomistic, and find many positives. diane for will, brenten, jodiene & janae

Dec 18, 2009\
Merry Christmas everyone, hope you'll be able to spend time together with your family and friends during the season. My sis and whole family is out for Christmas this year, first time in years now, so we look forward to spending more time with them this weekend.
On the 24th. we'll have Christmas supper here, then 25th. back at my folks then 26th. at Will's folks, sounds like everyone will be home there as well this year.
This week i had my round of chemo again, which seems to be taking longer as they had an emerg. blood work for someone then the pharmacy seems to be extra busy this time of year, so i only got out of there almost 1:00, my blood counts were good.
Tues. we went off to wpg. to see my radiation doc. i don't know how much more of these kind of emails you guys can take, but to them radiation did not work (they had hoped to shrink the tumor 50% and it did nothing, i thought that was good news, it didn't grow right??) and now they are changing my chemo to a total of 4 sessions instead of 6, so i will be done end of January with chemo, then go for another CT scan in Feb., as chemo is not working either, so they want to re evaluate and see where they'll go from there, by the sounds of things i'll go through another series of radiation treatments from what my doc said, but i guess between the chemo and radiation doc they got to figure that all out.
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. Psalm 18:32 It's hard to imagine how he will do it, but i have Faith that he can. and i know that all things come through his hands, and he allows things in my life for a greater purpose more than i understand. Thank you for your continued support. don't ever give up, God is in control, hugs, diane for Will, Brenten, Jodiene & Janae
